Dual stage whole house water filtration: Protection against sediment, taste and odour
This rainwater UV filtration system utilises a robust dual-stage filtration process with large 20” cartridges to purify your water from dirt, rust, and other visible particles. The second 1-micron cartridge targets finer sediment that causes cloudy water, bad taste, and odours. Together, they enable safe drinking water for your family and help protect your appliances, taps and plumbing from damage and staining.
Whole home safe drinking water with powerful UV water treatment
In addition to advanced filtration, the Puretec Hybrid E9AMC features powerful UV protection to safeguard your household water supply. This natural, chemical-free process neutralises up to 99.99% of harmful microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses and parasites such as E. coli and Giardia. By using light instead of chemicals, the system keeps your water safe without adding any unpleasant taste or smell.

FAQ TAB
Common problems and solutions with the Puretec Hybrid E9AMC UV filtration
Why is my water still cloudy or has particles after installing the system?
This usually indicates that the filter cartridges are clogged or the pre-filtration stage is being overwhelmed. If the roof catchment is very dirty, leaves, bird droppings, or tannin from trees are getting into the tank, the filter will struggle. Cleaning gutters, adding leaf guards, or performing more frequent filter changes can help. Also, check that the first filter stage is intact and properly seated.
Why does the UV alarm keep indicating a lamp failure, even though the lamp appears to be fine?
UV systems typically feature countdown timers or sensors that signal when the lamp is nearing the end of its life or is due for replacement. Additionally, if water clarity is low (high turbidity), UV light may not be able to penetrate properly, so the system may still issue a warning even if the lamp is functioning correctly. Ensuring clean filters and checking the UV chamber for sediment build-up or scaling (on the quartz sleeve) can solve this.
Why is there reduced water pressure or flow through the system?
Several causes may contribute to the issue, including a clogged sediment filter due to excessive debris, low or inconsistent water pressure in the supply line, the system exceeding its maximum flow or line pressure, or restrictions in the plumbing or long pipe runs. Checking filters, cleaning them or replacing them early, and ensuring pipe sizing and pressure are within specs helps.
Can this system handle bore water or other “non-rainwater” supplies?
People often try to run bore water or heavily mineralised water through these systems. If the water contains high levels of iron, manganese, hardness, or a chemical load, this can lead to rapid filter fouling, reduced UV effectiveness, and more frequent maintenance. Puretec documentation states the system is designed for common rainwater, and that for other sources, you may need to test or use pre-treatment.
What happens in a power outage? Is water still safe?
Since UV disinfection requires power to operate, during power cuts, the UV stage is deactivated — meaning only the filtration stages are active (if the system allows flow without UV). That means bacteria or pathogens will not be “killed” during the outage. Some users may still draw water, perhaps not realising the UV stage is offline. Some models have warning lights or alarms, but making sure there’s backup power or understanding the risk is essential.
