How we work

  • Free onsite visit. We look at your whole system, from the roof or bore to the tap.
  • Test if needed. Bore and surface water get a lab test, so the treatment is designed around your water.
  • Clear advice. We tell you what will make the biggest difference, and why.
  • Install and service. We install it, service it every 12 months and remind you when it’s due.

Based in Warkworth, we cover Mangawhai to Albany.

Rural water FAQs

What water treatment does a rural home need?

It depends on your water source. Most homes on rainwater need sediment filters and a UV system, so every tap is safe to drink. Bore and surface water need a water test first, then treatment matched to it, such as a softener for hardness, iron or manganese. We check your system before we recommend anything.

Is tank water safe to drink?

Not without treatment. Rainwater picks up bird and possum droppings, leaves and dust from the roof, and bacteria like E. coli can get in. Clear water can still be unsafe. UV with sediment filters is the most cost-effective way to make it safe at every tap. Roof moss treatments can wash in too, so disconnect the tank before the roof is washed or treated.

I’ve just moved onto a lifestyle block. Where do I start?

Book a Warrant of Fitness check. We look over the whole system, from the roof and gutters to the tank, pump and filters, and give you a written report of what needs doing. It’s the quickest way to find out what you’ve bought.

How often do rural water treatment systems need servicing?

Every 12 months, without fail. A UV system needs a new lamp, new filters and a cleaned quartz sleeve every year, and softeners, neutralisers and other filters need checking too. We remind you when your service is due, and we’re happy to look over any system, whoever installed it.

Do you install and service bore pumps?

Yes. We install and service bore pumps, and we can pull and replace a bore pump that has failed. We also look after the pressure pumps, pressure tanks and treatment that go with them.

How often should I test my bore water?

We recommend testing bore water every two years, and sooner if the colour, taste or smell changes. Use an accredited (registered) laboratory, not a home test kit. A full test checks for bacteria like E. coli as well as minerals and metals such as iron, manganese, hardness and nitrate.

Can you test my water?

Yes. We take the sample and send it to an accredited laboratory: an E. coli test for rainwater, a full chemical test for bore water, and both for stream, dam or spring water. We then explain the results and what, if anything, needs treating.

Do you service water softeners and pH neutralisers?

Yes. We service most makes and models of UV systems, filters, water softeners and pH neutralisers, as well as the pumps that feed them.

Do you work on businesses and new builds?

Yes. Cafés, schools, ECE centres, farms and campgrounds on their own supply have extra rules to meet, and we price and install from plans for builders, architects and engineers. See commercial water treatment and commercial new builds.
