More than just digger hire
Experienced operator included
No dry hire. Our diggers are operated by experienced Aqua Works team members. That means you get someone who can assess the site, choose the right approach and carry out the work safely and efficiently.
Two diggers. More capability.
From tight-access trenching to larger excavation, earthworks and demolition, we match the machine to the job. With a 1.7-t. and 3-t. digger, we are equipped for both tight-access work and bigger jobs.
Dig. Connect. Complete.
With plumbers and drainlayers on our team, we can continue with pipework, drainage, water tanks, pumps and other water infrastructure. So you don’t need to organise several different contractors.
One team. One job.
Where required, we can coordinate additional machinery, material removal and disposal. We can manage the different stages of the work and keep the project moving from excavation through to a cleared and ready site.

Concrete Tank Demolition & Material Removal
Matakana. As part of a water tank replacement project, our 3-tonne CAT was used to demolish the old concrete water tank and break up the structure for removal. We coordinated additional machinery to move the heavy concrete and arranged removal and disposal, leaving the area cleared and ready for its next use.
Tight-Access Excavation
Snells Beach. Limited access doesn’t always mean the job can’t be done. On this property, our CAT digger had to work through a narrow accessway between established gardens and buildings to reach the work area. Careful machine handling allowed us to complete the excavation while working within the existing property.
Water Tank Site Preparation
With access too restricted for conventional tank delivery, this Snells Beach replacement required careful site preparation before the new tank could be lifted in by helicopter. Our CAT digger excavated and prepared the tank site, working within the tight residential property before our team completed the tank installation and connections.
Two diggers. The right machine for the job.
From narrow-access work around existing homes to heavier excavation and demolition, our two CAT diggers give us the flexibility to take on a wide range of projects.
1.7-Tonne CAT Mini Digger
Built for tight access
Our smaller CAT digger can access spaces around one metre wide, making it ideal for established residential properties and sites where access is limited.
Ideal for:
Trenching • underground pipework • landscaping • smaller excavations • tight-access work
3-Tonne CAT 302.7 CR
More power for bigger jobs
Our larger CAT 302.7 CR gives us the extra power and capacity needed for more substantial excavation, earthworks and demolition while remaining compact enough for many residential and lifestyle properties.
Ideal for:
Site preparation • larger excavations • earthworks • water tank projects • demolition • material handling

Why customers choose Aqua Works
We understand what comes after the dig
Excavation is often only the first step. With plumbers, drainlayers and water specialists on our team, we understand how the digging needs to work with what comes next, from drainage and underground services to tanks, pumps and pipework.
We work around existing properties
Many of our jobs aren’t on empty building sites. We work around homes, gardens, driveways, fences and existing infrastructure, with a compact digger available for sites where access and space are limited.
We don’t leave you with half a job
Need excavated material removed? Pipework installed? A tank connected? Additional machinery coordinated? Where required, Aqua Works can manage the next stage rather than leaving you to find another contractor.
Local experience that matters
Based in Warkworth, Aqua Works has worked on residential, lifestyle and rural properties across the wider region for more than 20 years. We understand the variety of sites, access challenges and water infrastructure found across Rodney and North Auckland.
One team. Clear responsibility.
When several stages of a project are involved, fewer handovers make life easier. Aqua Works can coordinate the work across our own team and other equipment where required, giving you one point of contact throughout the job.
FAQ about Aqua Work’s Digger Hire Services
Can I hire an Aqua Works digger without an operator?
No. Aqua Works provides digger hire with an experienced operator only. We don’t offer dry hire. Our operator assesses the site and uses the machine suited to the job, helping the work to be carried out safely and efficiently.
What size digger do I need for my job?
You don’t need to work that out yourself. Aqua Works has a 1.7-tonne CAT digger for smaller and tight-access work and a 3-tonne CAT digger for jobs requiring more power and capacity. We’ll assess the job, access and site conditions and choose the most suitable machine.
How much access does a mini digger need?
Our smaller CAT digger can access spaces around one metre wide, making it suitable for many back gardens, narrow accessways and established properties where a larger machine can’t get through. If access is tight, talk to us. We can assess whether the site is suitable before work begins.
What do I need to check before excavation starts on my property?
One of the most important considerations is what may be underground. Water, wastewater, stormwater, electricity and telecommunications services can all run through a property. Site access, ground conditions and nearby structures also need to be considered before digging begins.
Can you dig trenches and install the pipework as well?
Yes. Aqua Works has plumbers and drainlayers on the team, so excavation can be combined with underground water lines, drainage, pump pipework, water tank connections and other water infrastructure. That can mean one team from excavation through to connection rather than organising separate contractors.
What happens to the soil, concrete or other material dug out during digger work?
It depends on the project. Excavated material can sometimes remain or be reused on site. Where material needs to be removed, Aqua Works can coordinate additional machinery, removal and disposal as required, including material from demolition work such as old concrete water tanks.
How much does digger hire with an operator cost?
The cost depends on the job rather than just the time the digger is on site. Factors can include the machine required, site access, ground conditions, the type and amount of excavation, travel, additional equipment and whether material needs to be removed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“We have had Aqua Works at our property to install a new water tank with a new pump and water filters. That went so well that we have also been calling on them for all the plumbing work needed during our renovations. Troy has been our plumber and he is professional, reliable, clever and so personable to have around, which makes a real difference when you have a lot of work to do. We would highly recommend Aqua Works, they will be our go-to for all plumbing work from now on.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Excellent service, from the initial advice provided by Steve through to the installation done by Troy. Both were knowledgeable, respectful and friendly. Thoroughly recommend Aqua Works, especially as being a locally owned business in our own community.“
