Commercial Water Treatment Servicing

For businesses on their own water supply.
Tailored to your site, with records to prove it.

Your water, looked after

If your business supplies drinking water to staff, customers, students or guests, the treatment has to work every day. It also has to be maintained, tested and recorded, so you can show your water is safe.

We look after commercial water treatment across Rodney and North Auckland, from Mangawhai to Albany. Every site is different, so we tailor the service to your equipment and to how much your own staff want to do.

One call, and we take care of it.

Who we look after

Tap a card to see what the rules mean for your type of site.

Three levels of service

We build a service plan around your equipment and how much your own staff want to do. Most sites fit one of these three.

Fully managed

We look after everything, so your staff don’t have to. On our busiest sites that means:

  • Every day: a remote check of the plant room on camera.
  • Every month: a site visit to inspect the tanks, pumps, filters and gauges, flush the tank valves and record the readings.
  • Every 3 months: an E. coli test at an accredited laboratory.
  • Every 6 months: new filter cartridges, clean quartz sleeves, another water test and a gutter clean.
  • Every 12 months: the full annual service. A new UV lamp, a full clean, the lines sterilised, the backflow devices tested and a full water test. We also water blast the roof, wash down the gutters, and drain and clean the water tanks.

Shared with your caretaker

Many schools and cafés have a caretaker who is happy to do the daily and monthly checks. We show them what to look for, then visit every 6 months for the filters and quartz sleeves, and every 12 months for the full annual service.

Annual service

Some sites change their own basic filters and just want us for the main service. We visit every 12 months for the full annual service, and you call us if anything changes in between.

What we look after

UV systems and quartz sleeves.

Cartridge and media filters.

Water pumps and pressure.

Water tanks and tank levels.

Roofs, gutters and rain heads.

Tank flush valves.

Backflow prevention devices.

Water testing and results.

Records for your water safety plan.

Every visit includes

  • A check of the whole system for leaks, wear and alarms.
  • The UV dose and lamp hours read and recorded.
  • New filters, sleeves or lamps where they’re due.
  • A written record of what we did and what we found.

What your staff can do

  • Check the UV screen each day to make sure it’s treating.
  • Keep an eye on the tank levels and the water pressure.
  • Flush the pre-filters and tank valves, once we’ve shown you how.
  • Call us straight away if an alarm sounds or the water changes.

One yearly price. No lock-in contract.

Commercial sites we look after

A few of the systems on our service rounds.

Plant room with a Hallett validated UV system, two large cartridge filters and a pressure tank

A tidy plant room: a validated UV system and two large cartridge filters on one wall. We service the lot in a single visit.

Hallett 500PN UV screen showing Unit Treating and a dose of 63 mJ/cm2

Every visit: we read the UV dose. The rules ask for at least 40 mJ/cm², and this Hallett is reading 63.

Hallett UV screen showing a warning that the water temperature is approaching its limit

Alarms: a warning that the water in the UV is getting warm, which usually means no water has been used for a while. We check alarms like this before they become a problem.

One price for the year

We don’t lock you into a long contract. We quote one yearly price that covers the monthly, six-monthly and annual work, so you know your costs up front.

Once you’re happy, it simply rolls over each year. There’s nothing big to sign: we keep your business by doing a good job.

What the rules ask for

  • Register your supply. Businesses and community sites that supply drinking water must register with Taumata Arowai. Existing supplies have until November 2028. See drinking water suppliers.
  • Keep it maintained. Under the Acceptable Solution for self-supplied buildings, treatment must be maintained to the manufacturer’s instructions, with records kept for at least three years.
  • Test on schedule. Supplies of 26 to 100 people on the Quality Assurance Rules test for E. coli and total coliforms every three months.
  • Use validated UV. Under the Acceptable Solution, schools, cafés and other sites open to the public need a validated UV system with a dose of at least 40 mJ/cm².
  • Test your backflow devices. Testable backflow devices need regular testing. We test yours every year.
  • Food businesses. MPI requires water used for food to be safe to drink, with E. coli tested at an accredited laboratory. See cafés and restaurants.

Which rules apply depends on your supply. We’ll explain them in plain English at the site visit. See NZ drinking water regulations.

Compliance, done for you

The rules can be confusing, so we take care of the whole process. We can register your supply with Taumata Arowai, write your water safety plan and act as your water operator.

Every visit and every test result is recorded, so you have what you need for your annual report or an MPI verification. See our water safety plan service.

A fully managed site in Matakana

A group of commercial workshops in Matakana runs on its own rainwater. In December 2024 we registered the supply with Taumata Arowai, and by March 2025 we’d written its drinking water safety plan.

Since then we’ve looked after the whole system. We check the plant room every day, visit every month, test for E. coli every three months and change 28 filter cartridges every six months. Spare parts for the validated UV system are kept on site, so a fault can be fixed quickly.

Commercial water treatment servicing FAQs

What does a commercial water treatment service include?

It depends on your equipment and the level of service you choose. A full annual service usually includes a new UV lamp, clean quartz sleeves, new filter cartridges, a check of the pumps, tanks and pressure, backflow testing and a water test, all recorded.

How often does a commercial site need servicing?

At least once a year. Most commercial sites need the filters and quartz sleeves done every six months, and our busiest sites have us visit every month.

Do we have to sign a long contract?

No. We quote one yearly price that covers the monthly, six-monthly and annual work. Once you’re happy, it rolls over each year, and there’s no long contract to sign.

How much does commercial servicing cost?

It depends on your equipment and how much we do. We start with a free onsite visit, then give you a written yearly price, so there are no surprises. Call us on 0800 278 296.

Can our caretaker do some of the work?

Yes. Many schools and cafés have a caretaker who does the daily and monthly checks. We show them what to look for, and do the six-monthly and annual work ourselves.

Do you service systems someone else installed?

Yes. We service most makes and models of UV systems, filters, softeners and pumps, whoever installed them. If something is worn out, we’ll tell you honestly and quote before doing the work.

Can you register our supply and write our water safety plan?

Yes. We can register your supply with Taumata Arowai, write your drinking water safety plan and keep it up to date. See our water safety plan service.

How often should our water be tested?

It depends on your supply. Supplies of 26 to 100 people on the Quality Assurance Rules test for E. coli every three months, and food businesses must show MPI their water is safe. We take the samples and send them to an accredited laboratory. See water testing.

Why do quartz sleeves need cleaning?

The UV lamp sits inside a glass quartz sleeve. Minerals and dirt slowly coat the outside of the sleeve and block the UV light, so the dose drops and bugs can get through. We clean the sleeves every six months on most commercial sites.

Do you test backflow prevention devices?

Yes. We test backflow devices every year as part of the annual service, and record the results.

What areas do you cover?

Rodney and North Auckland, from Mangawhai to Albany, including Warkworth, Matakana, Wellsford, Orewa and the Hibiscus Coast. For larger sites further away, give us a call.

“Excellent experience. Technician turned up on Sunday am, within 90mins of call out, which included him going to the store to pick up the parts. This was so important, as without their help the Childcare center would not have been able to open on the Monday. Thanks to Sherrie, Richard and the team.”
