My water still looks dirty even after installing the system — what’s wrong?
The Puretec Hybrid E13AMC UV Filtration is engineered to clear out sediment, rust, and fine particles before sterilising your water. If you continue to see cloudiness, the cause is usually outside the unit itself. Roof catchments that shed leaves, bird droppings, or tannins from trees can overwhelm the cartridges. Giving your tank a clean, adding leaf guards, or replacing the sediment filter earlier than scheduled will generally solve the problem.
The UV controller keeps showing a fault, but the lamp is glowing — is it broken?
A UV lamp does not “burn out” like a standard light bulb. Even though it still glows, after about 12 months, its germ-killing strength has dropped. The controller is designed to remind you when it is time to replace the lamp. If you have already replaced the lamp and the alert continues, check that the quartz sleeve is free of scale and that there is no build-up inside the UV chamber.
Why has my water flow slowed down?
It is often because the cartridges are holding too much sediment. This product has oversized 20” filters for longer life, but foul water can clog them faster than expected. Another possibility is that the incoming water pressure is too low, or the plumbing to the house is not sized for high demand. Cleaning or replacing the filters and checking that the inlet pressure is within the recommended range usually restores performance.
Can I put bore water through this system?
Yes, the E13AMC can be connected to bore water, but it depends on what’s in that supply. High iron, manganese, or hardness can quickly coat the filters and reduce UV effectiveness. If you are planning to treat bore water, it’s best to have it tested first. In many cases, a pre-treatment step is recommended to ensure the system can perform its job correctly.
What happens if the power goes off?
The filtration stages will still allow water to pass through, but UV disinfection stops immediately when the power is cut off. That means the system will not neutralise bacteria or viruses until power is restored. If outages are common in your area, a backup power supply is the safest way to make sure your water remains protected at all times.
