This is fairly common in NZ, our rural power supply often fluctuates, and some UV systems can be fairly sensitive and can be easily knocked out, especially during brownouts (low voltage) or surges (high voltage).
6. End of life of system components
Over time, the lamp, quartz sleeve, or other parts of the system degrade, which can cause alarms. Research by the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland (DWQR) indicates that UV lamp output can drop to approximately 70% of its original intensity after 10–12 months of use, potentially triggering system alarms due to insufficient disinfection levels.
