Hallett validated UV water treatment system features advanced UV Crossfire technologyTM

The commercial UV water filter system provides exceptional disinfection by eliminating harmful microorganisms, bacteria and viruses. First, at the core of this system, the Hallett-validated UV chamber features an innovative dual lamp Crossfire technology. Second, the design positions the UV lamps to irradiate the water from multiple angles, maximising irradiation and reducing shadows where microorganisms could otherwise evade treatment. In addition, the unique air-mounted configuration optimises the flow of treated water through a circular quartz sleeve. This way, it enhances the system's efficiency and reliability. Finally, it has an automatic cleaning mechanism that prevents the buildup of minerals and biofilm on the quartz sleeves. Consequently, it significantly reduces maintenance requirements and ensures continuous, effective operation.

Real-time monitoring for enhanced safety and cost efficiency

Equipped with advanced real-time monitoring sensors, the commercial UV water filter system meticulously tracks UV intensity, water transmittance (water clarity), and overall system performance. In addition, these intelligent sensors provide real-time feedback and alerts, allowing immediate adjustments to maintain optimal performance and ensure water safety under all operating conditions. Furthermore,  it automatically shut off the water supply during critical failures, such as significant drops in UV intensity, ensuring utmost safety.

This UV disinfection system also reduces operational costs by minimising the need for chemical treatments and frequent component replacements. Enhanced with USB data logging and optional Mod-Bus connectivity, it supports remote monitoring and detailed historical data analysis for compliance and operational optimisation. Finally, an inbuilt temperature control system prevents unnecessary alarms and promotes smooth, consistent operations. The intuitive touchscreen user interface further simplifies system management. Therefore, it allows users to easily adjust settings and monitor system status at a glance, ensuring that managing water purity is effective and user-friendly.

Steve's Pros & Cons

Pros of Hallet Commercial UV Filtration System

Most importantly, this commercial UV system in NZ is relatively hassle-free!

First of all, you don’t get sensor failures and issues like with other brands. For example, Viqua, Puretec, and Luminor are all great UV manufacturers. However, the sensors in their UV filtration systems come in contact with the water in the chamber. Consequently, they get dirty more easily, which often causes alarms. Consequently, a tech has to visit the site, clean the UV and chamber or make a costly replacement.

Additionally, whenever you open a sterile UV chamber, for example, to fix a sensor, you must re-sterilise the chamber and pipework. This sensor problem with validated UVs is the biggest problem in New Zealand. Hence the Hallets Validated UV Chamber stands out with a totally different technology that won’t have these problems!

Brilliant UV design with Crossfire Technology

The Crossfire Technology is clever. Two air-cooled UV lamps fire through the water from opposite sides, giving full 360-degree coverage so bugs don’t stand a chance. It’s also easier to service because the lamps are mounted outside the quartz sleeve. There is no awkward dismantling—a big plus in my book.

Hallett’s self-cleaning system

One of my pet peeves with UV systems is mineral buildup and fouling on quartz sleeves, which can degrade performance and increase maintenance needs. Hallett’s automatic cleaning system sorts this out before it becomes a problem, keeping maintenance to a minimum and performance spot on. This feature is crucial for bore water supplies and in areas with challenging water conditions around Warkworth, Snells Beach, and Mangawhai. In addition,  It works excellently with silica, which is common in these waters and is more tolerable to other contaminants such as iron and manganese.

Smart sensors and remote monitoring

The system has sensors that monitor performance and let you know if something’s wrong. You can also monitor it remotely. For commercial or high-risk installs, that kind of reassurance is invaluable.

Properly certified UV system

This isn’t some off-the-shelf cheapie. The Hallett range includes NSF 55 Class A and EPA-validated models, so you know it meets strict standards for potable water. For this reason, it is essential for Drinking Water Suppliers and commercial operations.

Great for tricky UV installations

We’ve used these in applications where water isn’t perfect – whether that’s silica, iron, hardness, or slightly off-colour water – and the system handles it well with the proper pre-treatment in place.

Cons of Hallet Commercial UV Filtration System

The Hallet commercial UV filter system is not cheap

These aren’t budget systems. If you’re looking for the lowest upfront cost, this probably isn’t it. But if you want long-term reliability and peace of mind, the investment is well worth it.

Needs clean power like any other UV system

Hallett uv filtration systems need a stable power supply. If you’re off-grid or in an area prone to outages, you must factor in a UPS or backup to ensure continuous protection.

Water needs to be prepped for UV disinfection process

UV only works if the water is clear enough for the light to penetrate. So, if your source water is murky, you’ll need filtration beforehand. This is not really a fault of the system—it’s just how UV works—but it’s worth knowing. We can sort this out for you if needed at Aqua Works.

No chemical or metal removal with this UV system

Again, this is not Hallett’s fault but just a reality of UV technology. It kills pathogens but won’t remove heavy metals, chlorine, or nitrates. You’ll need other pre-treatments, which we can provide at Aqua Works.
